  • Nathalie McDermott

Nathalie is a former broadcast journalist and worked at the BBC, Guardian, and Media for Development where she set up the Prison Radio Outreach Project in Wandsworth Prison.

As a fellow at The School for Social Entrepreneurs, in 2008 she founded On Road Media to improve media coverage of communities and issues that are under- or misrepresented.

To change the way social issues are perceived, and to enable real change at a policy and public attitude level, On Road brings community voices and media organisations together to inspire better media coverage and popular culture representations of issues, driving popular demand for real change.

Nathalie will be talking about this work and about the power of framing and evidence-backed strategic communications – where we understand how the public thinks and feels about social issues – and tailor our communications work to encourage better long term understanding.
